Most of us try to eat good and healthy food for a healthy body and lifestyle. We know that fruits, vegetables, whole grains are a good choice but if they are grown in depleted or contaminated soils are they still good?
We may have already heard about soil depletion but what does it mean to us? chemicals and pesticides used now a days to produce crops are not only hazardous to human body when we consume them but also bad for animals and our environment. Depleted soils produce crops that have very less amount of nutrient value and more toxic.
Plants get their food from soil, so if soil is contaminated, plants also gets contaminated. In turn when these crops or vegetables grown are consumed by human the chemicals and pesticides in the crops and vegetables cause health problems.
How do we make a change? Break the cycle of economic- based industrialized farming practices and organic farming. Grow your own food. by growing our own food, we can choose the fertilizers we use. Organic fertilizers put the good minerals back into the soil and avoid harmful chemicals. Of course, organic costs more but what is more important than our health?
