๐งก Seasonal food is produce that is purchased and consumed around the time that it is harvested.
๐งก Seasonal food is fresher, tastier and more nutritious than food consumed out of season. Seasonal foods produced on local farms are after fresher, as they do not require long distances for transport. Unlike out of season produce which is harvested early in order to be shipped and distributed to the local retail store, crops picked at their peak of ripeness taste better and full of nutrients.
๐งก Other important thing why we eat seasonal food is to prevent seasonal flu's and diseases. For example during summer we eat high water content foods to keep ourselves hydrated and to avoid summer strokes and in monsoon we eat immunity boosting foods to avoid monsoon flu's.
Seasonal foods are nature's gift for the mankind to help us cope with the seasonal changes. They are wholesome, tasty and nutritionally rich.
